The pigments in the concrete become an integral part of the stone 
during the casting process, and existing applications show
no undesirable change in color after years of weathering.

What is Big Rock Stone Veneer?
 
Stone veneer is a lightweight cast rock facing,
virtually impossible to distinguish from natural stone. 
The cast veneer is an exact copy of the original Hawaiian
moss rock, lava, or coral and consists of the same basic
ingredients as natural stone.  
 
The stone veneer is cast in molds, using a formulation
of Portland cement, lightweight volcanic aggregates, and
iron oxide pigments.

MOSS ROCK STEPPING STONES
   
Our stepping stones have the color and appearance
of natural Hawaiian stone. They are available in sizes
covering from 1 - 9.5 sq.ft.
Because they are a natural free-form shape we have 
sized them according to the area they cover. 
 
They are made of fiber reinforced concrete for strength
and durability. The color pigments become an integral
part of the stone during the casting process, and
existing applications show no undesirable change
in color after years of weathering.
The stones appearance actually improves with age
as they gather bits of earth and the patina of nature.
 
Average thickness is 3”. The stones are easy to place.
Simply set in a level bed of sand or soft earth. 
There are a wide variety of stones in each size category,
making obvious repetition unlikely.
  
PETROGLYPH STEPPING STONES:
Turtle, Crab, Fisherman, Single Paddler, Double Paddler.     
Custom Petroglyphs are available by special order. 
 
ALI'I STEPPING STONES:
The Ali'is are beautiful, large flat slabs of cast Moss Rock. 
Average size: 42" X 32" X 4”thick.  Random Petroglyphs
are also available in the large Ali'i Stones.

Why use Big Rock Stone Veneer?

allows for quick and easy installation, with no

structural modifications, or wall ties required. 

 

Using stone veneer saves both time and money. 

Labor costs are less than they would be with real

rock as the installation time is reduced. 

 

Stone veneer does not require the expensive, heavy

equipment needed to move and place natural stone. 

  

Lightweight. Weighs approximately 5 to 6 Lbs / sq. ft.

Easy to install. Simply use mortar to apply to any surface.

It has all the beauty of natural rock, costs less. 

It can be used where natural stone would not be feasible.

Improves insulation, against both noise and heat. 

Maintenance Free. Simply hose or brush down to clean. 

Non combustible. Stone veneer does not burn.

Termite resistant. Permanent.

Veneer Can Be Applied To Any Wall Surface.

 

The stone veneer is easily installed on interior or

exterior surfaces with the use of a sand and mortar mix. 

The veneer (including mortar) will add less than 3"

to the thickness of the wall, and becomes apermanent

facing, with no gaps or cracks to house insects or rodents. 

Unpainted concrete surfaces require no surface preparation. 

Surfaces such as painted concrete or metal, require the

application of metal lath before the scratch coat, and mortar.

Interior wood, drywall etc. need only metal lath, whereas

exterior wood requires a vapor barrier, the lath,

and then the mortar and stone veneer.
